If you’re a musical lover, then this is the summer camp film for you! Premiering on the Disney Channel in June 2008, Camp Rock is widely regarded as a Gen Z childhood classic. It is undoubtedly one of the most treasured camp movies of this generation, securing a spot as the second most-watched Disney Channel original of its time.

When the ambitious young singer Mitchie’s mother is hired to cater a prestigious summer music camp, she seizes the opportunity to attend at a discounted rate and follow her dreams. Her singing is overheard by spoiled superstar Shane Gray, who is attending the camp to repair his public image – he becomes obsessed and sets out on a journey to find her.

Camp Rock combines all the joyous elements of the summer camp experience with the excitement of a musical to create this heartwarming tale about following your dreams. addams family values

Addams Family Values (1993) is a hilarious summer camp movie favourite for those with a taste for the strange and unusual. Although not as commercially successful as its predecessor The Addams Family (1991), it now holds a cult classic status amongst fans and is a perfect example of a summer camp comedy.

In this highly anticipated sequel, the iconically macabre Addams family celebrate the arrival of their new baby boy – but siblings Wednesday and Pugsley are not so eager to accept a newcomer. After several comical attempts to get rid of their baby brother, Morticia and Gomez decide it’s time to send their children to Camp Chippewa, led by the gleeful Gary and Becky Granger. The ghoulish siblings navigate their way through the sunshiny camp the way they know best – mischief and rebellion.

Addams Family Values delivers a perfect mix of absurdity, humour and horror, making it a summer camp film to remember. Its final box office gross was just under $50 million, leaving it at number 4 on our list.
