Cabin Staff
If you’re ready for the time of your life at summer camp in America then put yourself – and your friends – forward for a cabin staff or general counselor position.
In between making new friends, having fun and enjoying days off when you can go sightseeing, your job will involve escorting your campers to a vast range of activities – all of which you get to try as well.
If you are an all-rounder, have a give it a go take on life and you’re ready to have a ton of fun then a camp counselor job is the one for you!
Focused on having fun
That means you could be taking around 10 youngsters to football in the morning, swimming in the early afternoon and arts and crafts later in the day… with every day offering something different.
When you get to each activity, a qualified instructor will be in charge of the session, which takes the pressure off you. However, it’s a real laugh joining in and a great opportunity to try the many activities offered at camp, surrounded by your new camp friends.
You will also play an important role in helping the kids get excited about the next activity so it will help if you have lots of energy to burn. Of course, it could be viewed as hard work but we think you’ll be having so much fun you won’t even notice!

A shared responsibility
When each day is finished, you and the activity instructors will stay in the same dormitories as the kids so you have a shared responsibility for their wellbeing. This includes getting the kids up in the morning, looking after them at meal times and organising evening activities.
The great news is you don’t need any prior experience to apply for this position as training is provided when you get to camp.
That said, the popularity of these positions means there’s plenty of competition so you will need to have some experience of teaching or working with kids or young people. If you don’t have any at the moment then get in touch with the team and we’ll be happy to point you in the right direction.
