From the classic Candy-Stripe to the amazing Wave, making friendship bracelets is one of the most popular pastimes for campers and counsellors! Youtube is a fantastic place to learn how to tie a friendship bracelet or find some new patterns! Just grab any embroidery floss, wool or string you have around the house and show off your skills when you arrive at camp! - Listen to camp related podcasts
Whether you’re new to camp or a third-year returner there’s always more to learn about summer camp! Go Camp Pro have some interesting podcast series dedicated to camp. It’ll definitely any answer questions that you have about camp and help get your prepared for the summer! - Learn a new skill!
Got an old guitar in the attic you used to play? Wool and knitting needs laying around? Ever wanted to do yoga but never found the time? This is the perfect time to start! Not only will these keep you busy while staying in the house, being able to bring these new skills to you camp for the summer will give you more opportunities for activities to lead, or introduce to your camp’s activity schedule! - Connect with other staff members.
The majority of camps will use social media so their staff can get to know each other before the summer! Find out if your camp have a group you can join, and start getting to know the others working at camp before flying out. You may even find people arriving at camp on the same day as you! If you’re returning to the same camp this is a great opportunity to welcome and answer any questions that new staff members may have! - Do your paperwork!
