Camp Tanuga is an ACA-accredited sleepaway summer camp located in the Sands Park region of Kalkaska, Michigan. The camp first opened to campers in 1952 and has been helping to cultivate lifelong friendships and lifelong memories every summer since.
The camps 220-acre campsite is nestled amongst the stunning woodlands and features an array of stunning grassy fields, wooded trails, and shoreline. Located amongst the natural beauty of the campsite is Tanuga’s many incredible facilities which are home to the many activities available on the camp.
Tanuga’s main objective is to help its campers build self-confidence by creating a family-like environment where they can learn and thrive. The camp believes that each camper should have the opportunity to choose their own activities to help ensure that they are constantly engaged and having an amazing experience.
The camp is located along the breathtaking shoreline of Manistee Lake in rural Michigan and therefore has direct access to the huge springwaters. This direct lake access allows the campers to enjoy many waterfront activities throughout the summer period.
Tanuga is located on an enormous 220-acre campsite which is decorated with stunning grass fields and woodlands. This huge campsite leaves so much room for campers to have endless adventures and take part in countless activities.
The campsite has many incredible state-of-the-art facilities such as comfortable cabins, arts & crafts studios, private ski slalom courses, rock climbing walls, archery ranges, high rope courses, and so many more incredible facilities.
Camp Tanuga opened to campers in 1952 and has been welcoming young campers every summer since. This means that the camp has over 70 years of experience providing campers with incredible memories that they will never forget.
The camp has a huge activity offering that campers can choose from. These activities include, but are not limited to wakeboarding, canoeing, fishing, hockey, mountain biking, pickleball, photography, guitar, football and so much more.

Camp Tanuga is incredibly proud of the unique family atmosphere that they have been able to create on camp. These desired attributes create a staff member who the camp can be sure is dedicated to instilling confidence in campers.
At the beginning of the summer, all staff members will receive intensive training to help instil the Tanuga philosophy, develop leadership skills and broaden their camp knowledge. Throughout the 6.5-week camp program, staff members will then teach, oversee, and mentor campers to ensure they have a summer to remember.
