The first campers were welcomed into Camp Somerset over 100 years ago. After sadly closing down for over 30 years, camp directors Kate and Josh reopened the revamped camp to once again welcome young girls aged 7 – 15 in 2018. Since then the camp’s reputation has once again been built from the ground up thanks to their amazing programme, facilities and staff.
The 50-acre campgrounds have been fully revitalised and updated and now feature state-of-the-art facilities that are home to the many activities, workshops, and classes on camp. The campground also features breathtaking greenery and a stunning natural spring water lake where campers can cool off on a hot summer day.
The Somerset camp programme is built on wanting to allow young girls to have huge amounts of fun whilst also learning and developing new skills. The programme has a mix of elected activities, bunk activities, overnight trips, day trips, competitions and so much more. So the need for dedicated staff members to help teach and oversee has never been greater.
With the camp undergoing a huge revamp before reopening its doors once again in 2018, the revitalised camp is incredibly modern. Because of this all of Somerset’s activity locations, sports facilities, classrooms, studios, and cabins are up to date and almost brand new.
The campsite is located on an enormous 50-acre plot of land which means that it has a huge amount of space for the many activities available on camp. From stunning woodlands, and incredible greenery to beautiful clear water lakes, the campsite offers an authentic American camp experience.
Before reopening in 2018, all of the camp’s facilities underwent an incredible transformation and now are incredibly impressive. Their selection of state-of-the-art facilities includes a large dining hall, archery range, adventure courses, sports fields, arts studios and so much more.
Whilst the modern Camp Somerset has only been open since 2018, the Camp Somerset legacy began over 100 years prior. For years, Somerset was one of the most prestigious summer camps in America and saw thousands of returning campers. Today, through their new ownership, the camp looks to extend that history and legacy.
The girls-only program that Camp Somerset runs allows these campers to learn, develop and build confidence without any added pressures. In addition to this, the program allows girls to build incredible bonds and friendships that can last a lifetime and help shape who they become in the future.
