Typical Day

Defining a typical day at a Wild Packs Camp is not that simple. The program is set up in such a way that every day is different. We try and keep you moving as much as possible but there is a basic flow to each week that you can expect during your stay with us. We should also stress our camp motto which is that “There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes”. Short of a hurricane, our activities will still run and in most cases, the more extreme the weather, the more fun we have doing the adventures.

You will have a minimum of fourteen days with us during which at least six will be taken up as you work on two of our big skill courses. The last two days will be spent participating in the “Clan Battles” where you will be putting your new found skills to good use. The remaining days will either be spent on off-camp trips or will be filled with the multi-activity days where you choose a maximum of four different activities throughout the day.

These multi-activity days could take the form of learning how to fly fish all morning and then going on a horseback ride in the afternoon, or, nutrition and cooking class, arts and crafts, lunch, then a three hour dance class in the afternoon. We have a great range of smaller activities for you to choose from but do bear in mind that some may be weather dependent. The only classes that are mandatory are the nutrition and cooking classes, everything else is left for you to plan out but you must keep your daily schedule full and attend every activity you assign yourself to.

Every evening there will be camp-wide activity where everyone comes together. These can range from talent shows or dances, to inter-cabin sport competitions and group nights. The idea is that no day or night is ever the same and everyone is kept as active and as integrated as possible.

Activities are co-ed however campers are reminded that there are rules and the penalty for stepping over the line may result in being sent home early. Camp rules will be sent out to you prior to the start of camp and will be reiterated upon arrival. We are not looking to suffocate you but it is important that we all respect each other and maintain a fun and relaxing community.

You will be busy from wake up until lights out and good luck trying to sleep in. Our staff will be staying within ear shot of you and will ensure that you get your sleepy teen butts out of bed and off to breakfast.

Irrelevant of which big skill courses you have chosen to undertake, our aim is to have every camper learn a basic level of first aid and CPR. These skills can be used when out on expedition and will give you a greater confidence to cope in an emergency situation. These classes will be run in the evenings and during some of the elective periods in the week.
