For those of you who are more into the outdoors and the idea of a summer spent tackling nature head on really appeals, then an adventure activities based camp is the one for you. The majority of our adventure camps are located in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and, between them, they offer just about any level of challenge that you can handle. They all have a central main camp; the difference is that your summer will focus around the trips that will take you away from camp for days at a time where you will be fine tuning your climbing, hiking, horseback and awareness skills.
Your typical day will very much depend on the activities you have chosen. Fear not, your days will still be packed with action! Our adventure camps tend not to be as big as some of the other camps due to the nature of the activities; about 120 kids or so. Do not worry though, you will still have bunk mates that will no doubt turn into some of the best friends you have ever had. Communications with home are still very easy (unless you’re hiking on a glacier) and the food is robust and healthy to keep your energy levels up.
UNIQUE ACTIVITIES
You don’t have to camp outdoors every night. In fact, it’s up to you just how much time you spend away on overnight trips. You will also see from the pictures that the camps take you to some pretty spectacular locations earning you some pretty awesome bragging rights when you get back home. All the camps have their own horses and if you are not too familiar with riding Western, there are plenty of very qualifi ed staff on hand to help you master the skills.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
Not all activities are land-based. Colorado has some pretty impressive rivers and if the idea of white water rafting EVERY DAY gets your blood pumping, we can help you out. We should also mention that the summers are warm in America so you won’t freeze when you’re out on the water. Many of the expeditions you can take part of will teach you navigation and survival skills whilst enforcing a “leave no trace” policy in the places you visit.
