Performing Arts Camp
This is the perfect place if your children are potty about pottery, silly about stained glass, daft about drumming, passionate about performing, driven to dance, skilled in skating, creative in crafts, tricky on the trapeze, born to be in a band, or simply want to try their hand at everything. Between them, performing arts camps are able to offer a full-spectrum of program activities that is sure to keep your children entertained throughout the summer. Like traditional camps, at a performing arts camp the children live in wooden cabins that are divided by gender. The cabins are fully-equipped with electricity and will have en-suite bathrooms either within them or nearby. Most camps will be co-ed with groups of male and female campers enjoying the activities together. These camps also offer regular large events which all campers participate in together; examples include Colour Wars, Olympic Games, Eco Challenge and Carnival Day. A performing arts camp is a fantastic environment for your child to enjoy a typical summer camp experience with the advantage of exploring their creative side.
Performing arts camps are great for children who thrive in a creative environment and don’t mind getting their hands (and clothes) dirty! They offer every camper the opportunity to really excel in any particular area they feel passionate about in a non-competitive atmosphere. Whilst performing arts camps offer state of the art media and studio facilities, their program areas aren’t limited to the creative. The activity range is very broad and campers will have the opportunity to take part in windsurfing, soccer, sailing, rock climbing and lots of other activities like those offered at traditional camps. So whilst your child may learn to master ceramics in the morning, they could then give water-skiing a try in the afternoon!
At performing arts camps there is no such thing as a typical day; campers have the freedom to choose their own activities. Your child’s morning could be spent between the board park and the trapeze frame, while their afternoon could be spent glass blowing and in the recording studio with their band. Come evening it’ll be shower time, dinner and then an evening activity, which could take the form of an all camp dance or to a camp fire performance! Bedtime varies on age but, by the time it gets to 10pm, campers are going to want to get some rest for the next day.
Activities
What about: ballet, tap dance, glass blowing, silversmithing, get messy in ceramics, singing, form a band in guitar, become a pro at music production, set design, try your hand at costume making, get bossy in stage direction, OR EVEN, water-ski, high ropes course, trapeze, show the Americans how to really play soccer, jump on a horse, paintball your counsellor, quad bike up the mountain then bike or board down, or hang out at the skate park. The real question is; how on earth do campers decide what NOT to do!?
Whether your child prefers things front of house or behind the scenes, we’re confident that they’ll have the summer of a lifetime! Please remember that all the activities are run by experienced staff that are certified in first aid and are there to make sure that campers get the most out of everything they do in the safest environment.
