All Boys or All Girl Camps

Gender specific camps operate in exactly the same way as any other traditional camp. The key difference, as you’d imagine, is that they are populated by either all girls, or all boys. A benefit to these camps is that it allows campers to completely relax and not worry about what the boys are up to, or indeed what bizarre things the girls are chatting about. A single sex camp creates a unique growth experience by combining extraordinary attention to the individual needs of each child - a program focused on positive risk-taking opportunities within a community where campers are comfortable to try new things. Just like at traditional camps, at a single-sex camp the children live in wooden cabins that are fully-equipped with electricity and will have en-suite bathrooms either within them or nearby. These camps also offer regular large events which all campers participate in together; examples include Colour Wars, Olympic Games, Eco Challenge and Carnival Day.

Unique Camps

If your child has already attended an all-girls school or you have a son in a scout troop that is all-boys, you will already know how close they can get to their friends without having to deal with the social issues that so many young people worry about. Single-sex camps are great if your daughter feels more confident when the boys are out of the way, or if your son wants to get stuck into everything they do without any distractions. A defining feature of single-sex camps is that they focus a little more heavily on their program areas. There will be a more focused approach to the activities on offer; this makes single-sex camps great if your child has a particular sport or activity that they’d specifically like to improve in. A lot of our camps are brother and sister camps, so the girls’ camp will have a boys’ camp located across the lake, allowing for some social interaction during special evening programs like a camp dance. This is great if you have children of both genders and would like them to be at camps nearby. The camps also offer semi-weekly brother/sister lunches where the two camps eat together and siblings can catch up on all the great things they’re doing.
