Adventure Camps
For those of you with children who are more into the outdoors and for whom the idea of a summer spent tackling nature head on really appeals, then an adventure activities based camp might be a great match. The locations of our adventure camps vary from the Colorado Rocky Mountains to the National Forests of Minnesota; these camps are all nestled amongst the country’s most beautiful landscapes. Amongst them, adventure camps are able to offer just about any level of challenge that campers can handle. They all have a central main camp - the difference is that a summer here will focus around the trips that will take the children away from camp for days at a time. On these trips your children will have the chance to fine-tune their climbing, hiking, horseback and navigation and team-building skills. At an adventure-specific camp, the campers will most likely spend time living in tents and cooking their meals on an outdoor fire. Alongside these individual trips, adventure camps also lead on-site activities which share many similarities with a traditional camp.
Adventure camps are a fantastic fit for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors, don’t mind living with limited provisions (but of course plenty of supplies to be healthy and safe), enjoy activities that will challenge their determination and willpower, don’t mind getting a bit muddy, and look forward to a summer overcoming fears and hurdles from which they’ll undoubtedly prosper once camp has ended. What makes these camps special is their emphasis on the importance of team building and communication skills that can be developed through outdoor activities. Your child will learn to become more confident and independent through a variety of exciting activities which include rock climbing, abseiling, BMX, high ropes and a whole host of others.

The brilliant thing about an adventure camp is that there is no such thing as a typical week. How your child’s week is structured will really depend on what they want to learn and which activities they’d like to try. For the first part of the week campers will choose on-camp activities to participate in from an action-packed list. The structure of their day itself will not be too dissimilar to the schedule at a traditional camp; however the outdoor adventure classes available will be much more varied. For the second part of the week your child will leave camp on thrilling trips that will include living out of a backpack, catching and cooking their own food, navigating the great outdoors, and bonding with their fellow campers in a unique setting. Our adventure camps tend not to be as big as some of the other camps due to the nature of the activities - about 120 kids or so. This certainly won’t limit your child’s summer camp experience and in fact there are many advantages to slightly smaller and more intimate camps. Communications with home are still very easy (unless they are off hiking on a glacier) and the food is robust and healthy to keep their energy levels up.
Unique Activities
Adventures camps are staffed by highly skilled counsellors who can teach a wide variety of outdoor survival skills. Your child can learn trail safety, how to pitch a tent, campfire cooking, how to fish, what to pack for an overnight trip, riflery, orienteering, and cave exploration. Campers by no means spend every night outside camping; in fact, it’s up to them just how much time they spend away on overnight trips. The activities offered at an adventure camp are geared to prepare your child for the off-camp trips whilst also instilling in them the core values of team-work, communication, independence, and to give them the confidence to be brave and take risks.
Typical Activities
Besides the more specialist activities offered at adventure camps, your child will also have the chance to sign up for more traditional classes throughout the summer. The facilities at our camps allow your children to spend their holidays rock climbing, sailing, windsurfing, tubing, learning guitar and horse riding. So if you think the idea of white water rafting EVERY DAY along the most impressive rivers in the States will keep your children occupied for the summer, then we can help you out.
