Flights and Fees

Once you’ve had a look at the type of camps we work with and have decided that you’d love for your children to go to camp, then next thing to consider is how they’ll get there. Wild Packs will assist you through the process and help you choose the best flights for your children to travel to the United States. We work closely with the Flight Centre and have a dedicated advisor on-hand (Henryk Sadzik) to recommend you the best route for your children to take. Flight Centre has access to the widest range of global airfares and can help you with any aspect of your journey, from flights and insurance to tours and trips for your family.

Unaccompanied Minors (or UMs)

This is a program set up by airlines to ensure the safety of young people travelling without a parent or guardian. Once you take your children to the airport check-in, they will be assigned airline staff members who will supervise them until they reach the arrivals gate in the United States. Your children may be given an item (such as a baseball cap or lanyard) to distinguish them and will have all documents held together. The airline staff member will escort the children through security, take them to the boarding gate, and then help them safely on board the aeroplane (usually ahead of all other passengers). The supervisor will stay with the children until the aeroplane takes off and then from there the in-flight staff take over and will be in charge of your children’s safety and comfort. Once the flight lands, another airline staff member will escort the children to the arrival gates where they will be met by the camp’s counsellor team and taken in a bright yellow school bus off to camp! Throughout the entire journey your children will be supervised by an authorised airline staff member to ensure that they are safe and comfortable throughout. Organising for your children to be Unaccompanied Minors will be done directly with the airline and can be facilitated by the Wild Packs team. It is your responsibility, as the parent/guardian, to ensure your child’s timely arrival at the airport check-in. We will ensure that you are armed with all the necessary travel details for the flights and also the contact information for the staff member collecting your child upon arrival. It should also be noted that you will be required to pick your child up at the airport upon their return.

Insurance

All campers will need to be covered by medical and travel insurance. Our travel partner, Flight Centre, offer suitable travel insurance that is recognised and accepted by the camps. It is your responsibility to ensure your child is protected with the appropriate insurance, and as always, Wild Packs are on-hand to give you advice and support.

All camps have infirmaries staffed full of kind and welcoming nurses who are available to attend to any injuries or ailments. If your children require daily medication the nurses will arrange for this.
