Summer Camps
Summer camps have been around for a long time in a variety of different formats. The United Sates is the one country that can truly say that it has defined the spirit of camp and understands the value of camp. Summer camp in America is a term that essentially covers a huge range of camp program types in nearly twelve thousand individual locations.
The most important thing to bear in mind is that the summer camp world in America is a really big deal. There is a huge amount of effort devoted to improving the diversity of the programs on offer and to providing an experience that will enrich your children. The different ranges of camp styles offer a combination of program activities and goals to suit children with any interest or ability. In most cases, it is camp that helps the children realise their “abilities” and develop not just their activity skills, but also their social skills. Camp allows children to test themselves in the safest of environments and really helps them develop their own personality without the normal day-to-day pressure they face through their school year.
Camps are run for a minimum of two weeks and last as long as eight weeks; these sessions lengths will give the children time to settle in and find their friends at their own pace. In order for any child to positively benefit from camp, we recommend that you consider an average stay of three weeks. Any child aged 6 – 16 is eligible for a summer at camp and can keep returning year after year.

Everyone in the Wild Packs office has worked at camp for several years and will all be returning in the summer. We live camp every day because we have experienced and believe in the value of camp.
What We Do
Wild Packs Summer Camps have over ten years’ experience in the summer camp industry and place camp counsellors all over America. Throughout this time we have built great relationships with camps based throughout the United States.
We work closely with families to decide on the camp that would be best for you and your children. We will then send you all the information on that camp to explain exactly the summer experience that they offer. Once you have made your mind up for sure, consider how long you’d like your children will go for and when in the summer you’d like them to go. From here Wild Packs will take over and work with your chosen camp to confirm availability and secure a position for your children. Once we have negotiated the total camp fees we will send you the camp’s contract and the Wild Packs program agreement; this should be signed and returned to the Wild Packs office. The first fee will then be set (20% of the total camp program costs) which will serve as a deposit and secure a placement at camp and is payable to Wild Packs.
From here it’s time to get very excited for a fantastic summer!
Transport
Wild Packs work closely with the Flight Centre, a highly reputable company able to offer great deals on international flights. They will work with your family to find the best flight route for your children and advise on arrangements for Unaccompanied Minors (for more details please see ‘Flights and Fees’).
Your children will be met by a camp counsellor upon arrival to America. They will be taken (by a big yellow school bus!) with lots of other campers off to camp where they will meet their counsellors and settle into their bunk.
